An evening of Latin Jazz influenced by the vibrant, infectious rhythms of Latin America. The hip sound of 1950s New York was Cubop – migrant musicians from Cuba and Puerto Rico influencing the jazz of Bebop originators. Then came the sounds of Samba and Bossa Nova, and a new craze for Bossa Jazz took over, with percussion present to ramp up the beat!
Quartet Con Almaderives their name from the Dizzy Gillespie composition ‘Con Alma’. Exploring the breadth of Latin jazz, this piano quartet play the music of - and take inspiration from - the likes of Horace Silver, Tom Jobim, Sergio Mendes, Chick Corea, The Jazz Crusaders, Tania Maria and Ray Bryant.
