Having graduated from Oxford University and begun a PHD at London University drummer Spike Wells was invited to join the Tubby Hayes Quartet. While active as a musician Wells qualified as a solicitor and practised law for over 20 years. He continued his music career, retired from the law and eventually qualified as a priest. Spike continues to work as both a priest and a jazz musician. The documentary film "A Love Supreme" is the story of his remarkable life. One of Spike’s longest and most fruitful musical relationships was with supremely gifted saxophonist Bobby Wellins, the subject of today’s other film – "Dreams Are Free". Spike will be present to introduce, discuss and answer questions about both films.
