MINGUS MUSIC

Charles Mingus composed some of the greatest jazz ever written. Most bands avoid playing this great music for fear of sounding both too much like and not enough like Mingus. But since last October twelve jazz musicians from Derby have been working with their mentor Matt Ratcliffe on some of the wonderful tunes from three of his classic albums; MINGUS AH UM, BLUES & ROOTS and OH YEAH!. Tonight they celebrate the music they've learned together.
