A welcome return to Jazz At The Libraries by Zoë Gilby and her quartet!
Her exciting repertoire encompasses jazz standards, innovative arrangements of pop tunes and compelling original compositions - written with double bassist husband Andy Champion. Zoe’s lyrics and delivery make for evocative story-telling – and, dare we say, it’s always a delight to listen to her mellifluous voice (hailing from the North East) when introducing numbers on-stage!
Zoe’s quartet tours extensively and deliver a commanding mix of musical sophistication and dramatic edge.
Line-up: Zoe Gilby vocals, Mark Williams guitar, Andy Champion double bass and John Bradford drums
“Award winning vocalist Zoe Gilby is back with an album [‘Aurora’] which sees her appending smart new lyrics to some of Tom Harrell’s finest instrumentals” - Jazzwise 4-star review
“A mix of intelligent original songs and innovative arrangements of tunes by both jazz and pop composers. It’s the quality of the original songs that make this jazz vocal album stand out from the pack.” - The Jazz Mann about the 'Twelve Stories' album.
“A wide vocal range, warm timbre and clear diction which she uses skilfully to unveil her moods. It’s clear that she’s already found her own voice.”
