The Derby Jazz Collective, supported by Derby Jazz, provides a monthly jazz jam that is open to musicians of all genres, ages and abilities.
Our aim is to provide an environment where musicans can play together in supportive environment. getting a chance to build confidence and skills in a fun and friendly way.
Starting with a wallop of good standards, we kick off at 7.30 in a Big Band Format, and then start rotating musicians to form smaller ensembles for the rest of the evening.
Working from a common Song Book and the Real Book (VI Edition), we encourage musicians to pick a couple of tunes for the session, and be ready to solo or lead as they like (or not)
You'll be encouraged and supported by the other Collective Members.
It's an open membership, come as and when you want .... so do come along and give it a try.
