Steve Waterman Latin Jazz Quartet

Sat 13th Apr | 7:30pm

For many years Steve has been involved in Latin music and has appeared at venues such as Ronnie Scotts and the 606 club with notable Latin bands, Cayenne, Heads South, Robin Jones King Salsa and Robin Jones Latin Jazz Sextet. He has played at the Havana Jazz Festival a number of times, performing his own latin-inspired compositions with members of Irakere, Afro-Cuban All Stars and The Buena Vista Social club.
The quartet was put together with like-minded musicians who specialise in both jazz and latin music and enjoy how jazz improvisation can be combined with the rhythms of Latin music. The music the quartet performs is a celebration of music from Cuba, Brazil and Argentina, with pieces from composers such as Paquito D'Rivera, Astor Piazzolla and Antônio Carlos Jobim. Alongside Steve's compositions the band also performs music by jazz composers Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Hank Mobley and many others, all who have been influenced by the rhythms from Latin-America.

Band playing at Lincoln's Blue Room

Jazzpac at The Blue Room

Jazzpac events are run by volunteers who organise live jazz events held at the Bue Room in Lincoln. We have an annual program of around ten gigs  a year presenting the best national and, occasionally, international musicians on the jazz scene today. Tickets for our events are available to book in advance although on most occasions will also be available to buy on the door. Whether you're one of our many regulars or it's your first time at one of our jazz nights, you'll always get a warm welcome from our volunteers on the desk and by the staff at The Blue Room. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any more information about our jazz evenings at this charming venue in Lincoln's historic uphill area.
