Welcome to the FUNK & SOUL DAY Derby’s “Inaugural Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival!” Join us for the second of two exciting days of all the very best in Jazz, Funk and Soul music/culture. Featuring the UK’s finest and most exciting musicians and DJ’s.

DJ Paul Cator The Legendary Paul Cater. Made his first foray into the exciting world of djing as a teenager in 1976. Over the decades since, Paul has built a reputation as the UK's foremost Northern Soul DJ. Paul will be bringing his classic soul vibes to the Derby Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival on Saturday 6th September from 1pm for the super exciting "Daytime Disco Session"

DJ Kev Rodgers

DJ's Rev & Shabba Derby based DJ's Rev & Shabba are Tony "Rev" Palmer and Paul "Shabba" Shippey (son of legendary DJ Patrick Shippey). Rev and Shabba were long standing friends before starting their DJ partnership almost two decades ago. They are now renowned for their infectious mix of R&B, Soul & Reggae, performing across the UK, but always remaining true to their Derby roots.

SoulDeep

Derby based "SoulDeep" was formed in 2008 and has blossomed into the foremost jazz & funk band in the UK.

Featuring the incredible talents of;

Juliana Dilena Sharpe- vocals.

Robert Dimbleby - keyboards.

Jack Williams- saxophones.

George Grignon- drums.

SoulDeep captures the soul and authentic spirit of music by James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, Donny Hathaway, Tower of Power, Marvin Gaye and all that is beautiful from the rich history that is Black Music.
