Award winning pianist, composer, bandleader Robert Mitchell’s new electric power trio. With Robert on keys (Rhodes, Keytar, Piano) are, Zayn Mohammed on guitar and Laurie Lowe on drums. The way the keyboards and guitar continually swap lead and bass roles makes this an exceptional band. Zayn and Laurie have both worked with Robert on other projects but never together. Little Black Book are releasing a new album on Whirlwind this autumn.

Robert Mitchell is an award winning pianist, composer, bandleader, teacher, and poet. He has released 13 albums, and has lead several bands. He has worked with many of the worlds leading jazz musicians.

Zayn Mohammed is a UK based award-winning jazz guitarist. Receiving his BA from Berklee College of Music, he has been mentored by jazz greats including Ahmad Jamal, Wayne Shorter and most recently, George Benson. 

Laurie Lowe has been playing drums since the age of six and has gained experience playing with many different artists in many different genres of music. More recently he’s focused on jazz working with Gilad Atzmon, Nicolas Meier, Jim Mullen, Dave O’Higgins, Andy Sheppard, Mike Mondesir, Zhenya Strigalev and Carl Orr.

With 124 seats, the same as New York's legendary Village Vanguard, a superb natural acoustic and excellent sightlines this studio theatre is ideal for jazz. It's part of Chapel Street Arts Centre in the building that was previously the home of  Déda  opposite Chapel Street Car Park in Derby's Cathedral Quarter.

The CUBE bar/cafe serves drinks before the show and during the interval.
